- 08/2025: Dr. Deng attended ASME-CIE 2025 Conference at Anaheim, California, presented our latest work on data-driven topology optimization of multiscale spinodal structures, and served as a session chair.
- 07/2025: our paper of “Co-Design of Geometry And Thermal-Elastic Gradient Alloy Distribution With Temperature-Dependent Material Properties” was published by the Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization.
- 06/2025: our paper of “Data-Driven Multiscale Topology Optimization of Soft Functionally Graded Materials with Large Deformations” was available on the Arxiv.
- 06/2025: our paper of “Data-Driven Multiscale Topology Optimization of Spinodoid Architected Materials with Controllable Anisotropy” was available on the Arxiv.
- 01/2025: Dr. Deng developed a new senior/graduate course “ME 790: Machine Learning for Engineering Design” at the University of Kansas for the Spring 2025 semester.
- 09/2024: Dr. Deng developed a new senior/graduate course “ME 770: Design Optimization for Mechanical Systems” at the University of Kansas for the Fall 2024 semester.
- 08/2024: our Design Intelligence Laboratory at the University of Kansas is now officially established. Multiple openings are available for graduate/undergraduate students until filled.
- 01/2024: our paper of “Data-Driven Physics-Constrained Recurrent Neural Networks for Multiscale Damage Modeling of Metallic Alloys with Process-Induced Porosity” was published by the Computational Mechanics.
- 10/2023: Dr. Deng attended the SES Annual Technical Conference at the University of Minnesota and presented our lastest work on machine learning surrogates of multiscale damage analysis.
- 09/2023: Dr. Deng served as a minisymposium organizer for the IACM-MMLDE-CSET2023 Conference at the University of Texas El Paso.
- 07/2023, Dr. Deng gave a presentation about our work of scientific machine learning for material mechanics modeling on the Machine Learning & Deep Learning Workshop organized by Sandia National Laboratories.
- 03/2023: our paper of “Adaptive Spatiotemporal Dimension Reduction in Concurrent Multiscale Damage Analysis” was published by the Computational Mechanics.
- 01/2023: our paper of “Data-Driven Calibration of Multifidelity Multiscale Fracture Models via Latent Map Gaussian Process” was published by the Journal of Mechanical Design.
